According to research from the Video Advertising Bureau, there are over 820 million streaming-enabled devices in the United States, signifying an enormous installation base for CTV. And while 30% of these devices are smartphones, 76% of viewers state their preferred device for watching CTV is on a television, whether through a smart TV, or on a TV using a streaming media player.
These statistics reinforce two main narratives around Connected TV: viewer and consumer trends are tipping toward more adoption of streaming services, and CTV viewers prefer to watch content at home on their TV. This is good news for advertisers, as they can reach millions of viewers with high quality content served with precision targeting, all at a fraction of the cost of traditional TV advertising.
