Bring on the Challenge

Vanity Planet’s goal was to drive online sales of their beauty and skincare product lines. By advertising on Facebook, Vanity Planet gained access to a broad array of ad formats and placements, allowing them to test the performance of traditional static image ads versus video assets.

Enter SteelHouse

SteelHouse created a custom audience within Facebook which targeted qualified site visitors between the ages of 13-65+. The campaign was then run across all available Facebook placements, including Instagram and the Audience Network, with delivery optimized for conversions to drive scale and performance simultaneously.

To identify the best possible ad formats, SteelHouse employed an A/B test between static and video ad units. Static ads showed various cosmetic products, along with copy emphasizing a 70% off sale. On the video side, six different clips between 10 and 25 seconds featured young women using Vanity Planet products, including face brushes, hair straighteners, and clay masks, to highlight how easy beauty can be.

The Results

By featuring engaging video ads showing their products in action, Vanity Planet saw a significant spike in performance. Video ads on Facebook resulted in a 3.7x increase in CTR, and a 33% increase in ROAS while reducing their CPA by one third when compared to static ads.
