As another step towards providing marketers with everything they need to design beautiful ads that perform, we’re proud to announce that SteelHouse has joined the Shutterstock API Partner Program. Through this partnership, we’re providing advertisers with direct access to the vast Shutterstock library in the Ad Builder of our Advertising Suite — all at no cost.

Advertisers already know the power of compelling visuals. Studies have shown that people can recall 65% of the visual content that they see almost three days later, while they only remember about 10% of written content three days after it’s read. But not all visual content is created equal. Stock images and video can be tricky to use effectively. Here’s just a few ways our Ad Builder makes incorporating stock content seamless:

  1. Tackling usage rights. There are several types of licensure types which include public domain, royalty free, and right managed. With SteelHouse, we’ve handled that for you. “Having access to Shutterstock’s collection means advertisers are able to easily tell their brand stories with high-quality, royalty-free images and video that are free to use and all available for commercial use,” said Mark Douglas, SteelHouse CEO.
  2. Stock content has evolved. There can be a generic feel or certain element of cheesiness associated with low quality stock images. Stock content has evolved to be less staged and to visualize a broad range of more natural and relatable scenarios. Shutterstock offers a collection of more than 260 million high-quality images with over 1 million new images added every week. In fact, 67% of online shoppers rated high quality photographs as being “very important” to their purchase decision, according to MDG Advertising. With SteelHouse, brands can drag and drop from Shutterstock’s collection of millions of professional-quality images and videos directly into their campaigns.
  3. Make your stock content part of your brand. Adding your own touch can create a more personalized and relevant experience. Our Ad Builder lets you easily crop content, add a filter, adjust saturation, and overlay a call-to-action and/or messaging.

This strategic technology integration allows advertisers to access high quality visual content that will create more compelling and ultimately better performing prospecting and retargeting through display, mobile, and social. With the SteelHouse Advertising Suite, marketers don’t need to worry about usage rights, budgeting for assets, or dealing with low quality or generic content that doesn’t match their brand aesthetic.

Advertisers have already started to utilize the Shutterstock collection in their campaigns. For example, Patagonia Provisions was able to pull a landscape image into their ads that featured a “free shipping” offer and a product carousel.

“At the core of any successful advertising campaign is the ability to tell a brand story which relies heavily on powerful visuals,” said Alex Reynolds, GM, Platform Solutions at Shutterstock. “The integration into SteelHouse’s platform is exciting because it means advertisers can design highly targeted campaigns that resonate with their audiences and ultimately lead them to take action.”

By integrating the Shutterstock image and video collection, SteelHouse is joining other notable platforms that are leveraging Shutterstock’s technology to deliver high-quality visuals to customers directly within their existing workflow whether that’s an ad platform, website builder, or content marketing tool.
