SteelHouse is known for their strong performance marketing solutions in display retargeting, and was one of two competitors selected to step up to the plate for the experiment. They were tasked to retarget multiple segments – cart abandoners, engaged users with multiple pageviews, and lower funnel shoppers. 

Enter SteelHouse

SteelHouse educated the brand on both structure and implementation of cookie split testing. They also recommended that the test be decided by a third party tool like Google Analytics to ensure an even playing field. The campaign was launched after a few weeks of the cookie split testing. 

Prior to pushing live, SteelHouse took proactive measures during the test with their past creative performance to ensure the e-commerce retailer was displaying the strongest message and dynamic carousel imagery. Once the campaign went live, SteelHouse then leveraged automated media buying through their proprietary optimization engine to automatically adjust campaign settings in real time. The engine made hundreds of thousands of adjustments to guarantee the strongest performance possible, and outperform any sort of human optimization.

The Results

SteelHouse was not only able to drive 20% higher revenue at comparable spend levels, but also a substantially lower bounce rate and higher page views per visit, proving the traffic driven was at a higher level of engagement and quality than the test competitor. SteelHouse outperformed the competitor across average session durations, which was six times higher, and a 680% higher e-commerce conversion rate. In fact, the retailer chose to end the test two weeks early since they had not anticipated these positive (and higher) results so quickly.
