Is Apple Still Able to Innovate? SteelHouse CEO Says No
Mark Douglas says Apple more resembles a financial enterprise than a cutting edge product company

Apple’s Innovation Days Are Behind Them
Apple was once at the forefront of innovation. Now? Not so much, says SteelHouse CEO Mark Douglas. “Apple’s path to growth has always been product innovation, which we just haven’t seen a lot of lately,” he said, pointing to the fact that the last innovative product they launched that was not an iteration of a currently existing offering was the Apple Watch, launched in 2015.
When asked his take on whether Apple was a good future investment, Douglas was hesitant to offer a recommendation. With their growth always being fueled by product innovation, and that innovation seemingly gone, he doesn’t see it as the growth play for investors it once was.
“So what you see happening is the company is becoming a financial company rather than a great product company,” said Douglas. “They iterate on those products but it’s not the same kind of innovation, and it’s going to hurt them in the long run.”
